Introduction
INTRODUCTIONZOLADEX LA 10.8MG contains Goserelin which belongs to a group of medicines called Luteinising hormone-releasing hormone (LHRH) analogues. It is used to manage prostate cancer (in men), breast cancer, endometriosis, uterine fibroids, infertility (with other medicines) which helps to control the release of eggs from the ovaries (in women). Goserelin is a long-acting GnRH agonist which is classified as a leutinizing hormone releasing hormone (LHRH) agonist. LHRH agonists work by inhibiting the production of lutenizing hormone by the pituitary gland. This stimulates the testicles to release testosterone in men and stimulates the ovaries to release estrogen in women. This medicine does not have a direct effect on the cancer but act only on the testicles or ovaries. The lack of testosterone and estrogen interferes with stimulating cell growth in testosterone or estrogen dependent cancer cells. In management of prostate cancer ZOLADEX LA 10.8MG are often used together with anti-androgen medications. Anti-androgens are substances which block the effects of testosterone. Before receiving this ZOLADEX LA 10.8MG, tell your doctor if you have liver, kidney or heart problems. It is not recommended for use in children, pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers. How It Works
ZOLADEX LA 10.8MG is a gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) analog. In men it works by reducing the amount of testosterone (hormone) that is produced by body. In women, it works by reducing the amount of oestrogen (hormone). LHRH agonists work by telling the pituitary gland located in the brain to stop producing leutinizing hormone, which stimulates the testicles to release testosterone in men and stimulates the ovaries to release estrogen in women.
Directions for Use
ZOLADEX LA 10.8MG will be injected by your doctor or nurse under the skin on your stomach every four weeks (28 days).
