Introduction
INTRODUCTIONZIPSYDON contains Ziprasidone which belongs to the group of medicines called Antipsychotics. It is used in the management of Schizophrenia (a mental disorder characterized by seeing, hearing and feeling things that does not exist, believing in something that do not exist, unusual suspicion, remaining absent, difficulty in being social, nervousness, depression and anxiety. Also, it is used for the management of manic or mixed episodes of moderate severity in bipolar disorder (in people of age 10 to 17 years). Mania is a disease that is characterized by elated behaviour, exaggerated self-esteem, increase in energy, decreased need for sleeping, lack of concentration or hyperactivity and repeated high risk-taking behaviour. ZIPSYDON is not recommended for use in patients with heart diseases or those who recently had heart attack or heart rhythm problems. Before taking ZIPSYDON inform your doctor if you have any liver or blood clot problems (including family history), had fits, low-resting heart rate or salt depletion as a result of severe diarrhoea or vomiting. ZIPSYDON should be used in pregnant women only if clearly advised by the doctor. It is not recommended for use in breast-feeding women. Consult with your doctor before taking ZIPSYDON if you are pregnant or breast feeding. Directions for Use

This can be a symptom of a condition called postural hypotension involuntary/unusual movements, especially in face and tongue signs of serious allergic reactions (angioedema) such as face, lips, tongue or throat swelling, swallowing or breathing problems and a nettle rash signs of neuroleptic malignant syndrome such as fever, breathing rapidly, sweating, muscle stiffness, shaking, difficulty swallowing and reduced consciousness signs of serotonin syndrome such as feeling confused, agitated, increased temperature, sweating, lack of muscle co-ordination and muscle twitching signs of torsade’s de pointes such as fast, irregular heartbeat and fainting

& PRECAUTIONSPREGNANCYZIPSYDON should be used in pregnant women only when considered clearly necessary. Contact your doctor before taking ZIPSYDON. BREASTFEEDINGZIPSYDON is not recommended for use in breast feeding women since it may pass into the breast milk. Consult with your doctor before taking ZIPSYDON if you are breast-feeding. DRIVING AND USING MACHINESDo not take drive or use machines after taking ZIPSYDON as it may make you feel drowsy. ALCOHOLConsumption of alcohol is not recommended while taking ZIPSYDON, as this may increase the risk of side effects. LIVERZIPSYDON should be used with caution in patients with liver problems. Consult with your doctor before taking ZIPSYDON. ALLERGYDo not take ZIPSYDON if you are allergic to Ziprasidone or any other ingredients of this medicine. LUNGSZIPSYDON should be used with caution in patients with pulmonary embolism. Consult with your doctor before taking ZIPSYDON. HEART DISEASEZIPSYDON is not recommended for use in patients with heart diseases or those who recently had heart attack, heart rhythm problems and used with caution in patients with low resting heartrate. Contact your doctor before taking ZIPSYDON. OTHERSBefore taking ZIPSYDON, inform your doctor if you have: history of blood clots (including family history) suffered from seizures (fits) salt depletion which resulted from a prolonged severe diarrhoea and vomiting dementia stroke laboratory test (such as blood, urine, or liver function test) Use in pediatrics: ZIPSYDON should be used with caution in children (aged 10-17 years). Consult child’s doctor for advice. Use in geriatrics: ZIPSYDON should be used with caution in elderly patients (above 65 years of age). Consult your doctor before taking ZIPSYDON.

Drug - Drug interactions: Before taking ZIPSYDON inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines: class IA and III antiarrhythmics (such as procainamide, quinidine, disopyramide and amiodarone) (used in the management of arrythmia) arsenic trioxide (used in the management of certain type of cancer) halofantrine, mefloquine (used in the management of malaria) levomethadyl acetate (used for manageing narcotic dependence) mesoridazine, thioridazine, sertindole (used in the management of schizophrenia) pimozide (used to control motor or verbal tics) sparfloxacin, gatifloxacin, moxifloxacin and macrolides like erythromycin, clarithromycin (used in the management of certain type of bacterial infections) dolasetron mesilate (used to prevent nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy) cisapride (used to manage heart burn) rifampin (used to manage tuberculosis) lithium, carbamazepine, valproate (used in the management of bipolar disorder) fluoxetine, paroxetine, sertraline (used in the management of depression) st. john ´s wort (used in the management of depression and menopausal symptoms) phenytoin, phenobarbital, carbamazepine, ethosuximide (used in the management of epilepsy) levodopa, bromocriptine, ropinirol, pramipexole (used in the management of parkinson’s disease) verapamil (used in the management of high blood pressure and chest pain) itraconazole (used in the management of fungal infections) ritonavir (used in the management of HIV infection) Over dosage: If you or anyone else accidentally take too much of ZIPSYDON, contact your doctor or visit the nearby hospital immediately.
