Introduction

SIMVOTIN 10MG TABLET contains Simvastatin which belongs to the group of medicines called HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors (statins). It is used in the management of primary hypercholesterolaemia (high amounts of cholesterol in the blood), mixed dyslipidaemia (increased level of fat in the blood) or homozygous familial hypercholesterolaemia (a hereditary cholesterol disease) along with other medicines. SIMVOTIN 10MG TABLET is also used to manage coronary heart disease or are at high risk of coronary heart disease (because of diabetes, history of stroke or any other blood vessel disease) in addition to your cholesterol-lowering diet. SIMVOTIN 10MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients currently having liver disease. Before taking SIMVOTIN 10MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you have severe lung disease, kidney disease, history of liver disease, diabetes high blood pressure and thyroid problems. SIMVOTIN 10MG TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant and breastfeeding women. How It Works

SIMVOTIN 10MG TABLET works by blocking the enzyme that our body needs to make cholesterol and helps to lower levels of total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol (bad cholesterol) and fatty substances called triglycerides in the blood. SIMVOTIN 10MG TABLET also raises levels of good cholesterol (HDL cholesterol). Thus SIMVOTIN 10MG TABLET may prolong your life by reducing the risk of heart disease problems.

Directions for Use

Take SIMVOTIN 10MG TABLET as advised by your doctor. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. It can be taken with or without food. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition. Do not stop using SIMVOTIN 10MG TABLET unless your doctor told to you. Otherwise, your cholesterol may rise again.

BREASTFEEDINGSIMVOTIN 10MG TABLET is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women as it is not known whether this medicine is passed into breast milk. Consult your doctor before taking SIMVOTIN 10MG TABLET. DRIVING AND USING MACHINESSIMVOTIN 10MG TABLET is not expected to interfere with your ability to drive or to use machinery. However, it is recommended to be cautious while driving or using machines as some people get dizzy after taking SIMVOTIN 10MG TABLET. ALCOHOLInform your doctor before taking SIMVOTIN 10MG TABLET if you consume a large amount of alcohol. KIDNEYSIMVOTIN 10MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with kidney problems. Consult your doctor before taking SIMVOTIN 10MG TABLET. LIVERSIMVOTIN 10MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients currently having liver disease and inform your doctor if you ever had liver disease. ALLERGYDo not take SIMVOTIN 10MG TABLET if you are allergic to Simvastatin or any of the other ingredients of this medicine. Inform your doctor if you have any allergies. LUNGSSIMVOTIN 10MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with severe lung disease. Consult your doctor before taking SIMVOTIN 10MG TABLET. OTHERSBefore taking SIMVOTIN 10MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you: are due to have an operation have diabetes or at high risk of diabetes due to high levels of sugars and fats in the blood, are overweight and have high blood pressure have thyroid problems have ever had a history of muscle problems during management with cholesterol-lowering medicines or a family member has a hereditary muscle disorder have an intolerance to lactose or other sugars Use in pediatrics: SIMVOTIN 10MG TABLET should be used with caution in children and adolescents (between 10-17 years of age), usually starting the management with the lowest effective dose. Consult your doctor before giving SIMVOTIN 10MG TABLET to your children. Use in Geriatrics: SIMVOTIN 10MG TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients above 65 years of age due to the increased risk of muscle breakdown. Consult your doctor before taking SIMVOTIN 10MG TABLET.

Drug Interactions

SA.
