It is used for the management of acute bacterial conjunctivitis. Bacterial conjunctivitis is also known as pink eye or madras eye. Conjunctivitis is an infection of the outer surfaces of the eye. The infected eye will have redness, itching, teary eyes, sticky discharge or gritty in the eyes. How It Works
Chloramphenicol belongs to antibiotic which stops the growth of bacteria that cause eye infections. It does so by managing synthesis of essential proteins required by bacteria to carry out vital functions. This does not directly destroys the bacteria, but manages them from increasing in numbers, and eventually clears up the eye infection.
