INTRODUCTIONRELGIN 0.5MG contains Rasagiline which belongs to the group of medicines called Anti- Parkinsonian agents. It is used to manage signs and symptoms of Parkinson's disease in adults. It is also used together with or without levodopa. Parkinson’s disease is a condition of the brain where there is a loss of cells that produce dopamine and it primarily affects the body movement. How It Works

RELGIN 0.5MG works by increasing and maintaining the levels of certain natural substances such as dopamine, serotonin and norepinephrine in your brain, resulting in reduction of parkinson’s symptoms.

Directions for Use

Take RELGIN 0.5MG as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicines with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your physician will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition. Do not stop taking RELGIN 0.5MG unless your doctor advises you to stop.

Side Effects

KIDNEYRELGIN 0.5MG should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Consult your doctor before taking it. LIVERRELGIN 0.5MG is not recommended for use in patients with severe liver problems. It should be used with caution in patients with any other liver problems. Consult your doctor before taking it. ALLERGYDo not take RELGIN 0.5MG if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to this medicine or any other ingredients in this medicine. HEART DISEASERELGIN 0.5MG should be used with caution in patients with high blood pressure, myocardial infarction (heart attack). Consult your doctor before taking it. OTHERSBefore taking RELGIN 0.5MG, inform your doctor if you have: dyskinesia (uncontrolled or involuntary muscle movement) hypotension or low blood pressure upon standing psychotic behavior neuroleptic malignant syndrome Use in pediatrics: RELGIN 0.5MG is not recommended for use in children and adolescents (less than 18 years of age). Consult your doctor before taking it. Use in geriatrics: RELGIN 0.5MG should be used with caution in elderly patients aged 65 years or above. Contact your doctor before taking it.

Drug Interactions

SA. Drug - Drug interactions: Before taking RELGIN 0.5MG, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines: medicines used to manage depression (Ex. venlafaxine, fluoxetine, fluvoxamine, amitriptyline, st. john’s wort (herbal medicine), phenelzine, selegiline, mirtazapine) ciprofloxacin (used to manage bacterial infections) dextromethorphan (used to manage cough) certain medicines present in eye drops (Ex. brimonidine), nasal and oral decongestants and cold medicine (Ex. ephedrine, pseudoephedrine, oxymetazoline) medicines used to manage severe pain (Ex. pethidine, meperidine) other medicines used to manage parkinson’s disease (Ex. bromocriptine, cabergoline, apomorphine) clozapine (used to manage schizophrenia) tyramine (used to regulate blood pressure) metoclopramide (used to manage nausea and vomiting) B. Drug - Food interactions: Avoid eating too much of foods rich in tyramine (Ex. aged cheese, red wine) while taking RELGIN 0.5MG as it could very rarely increase your blood pressure. Overdosage: If you or anyone else accidentally takes too much of RELGIN 0.5MG, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms of overdose include slightly euphoric mood (light version of mania), extremely high blood pressure and serotonin syndrome.
