Introduction
INTRODUCTION ABOUT PROTAR OINTMENTPROTAR OINTMENT is a combination of Coal tar, and Salicylic acid which belongs to a group of medicines known as Keratolytic agents and Keratoplastics respectively. It is used in the management of skin conditions like psoriasis vulgaris (autoimmune disease characterised by thickened patches of inflamed and red skin covered with silvery scales), scaling dermatoses and neuro dermatitis (skin condition with red and scaly patch), hyper keratotic skin condition, cracked heals, palmoplantar keratoderma (excessive skin thickening of palms and soles), dandruff of skin, scaling, itching and flaking skin. PROTAR OINTMENT is not recommended for use if you have soreness (painful and itchy) due to psoriasis, or pustular psoriasis which is characterised by small fluid filled blisters, tenderness, and inflammation and if you have infected skin. How It Works
PROTAR OINTMENT effectively reduces skin conditions where Coal tar works by the shedding the dead skin cells (keratinocytes which is increased in disease conditions) through inhibition of DNA which is necessary for the cell growth and multiplication. Salicylic acid works by softening the scaly patches and causes shedding of the outer layer by reducing redness and inflammation.
Directions for Use
Always use PROTAR OINTMENT exactly as directed by your physician. It is for external use only. Your doctor will prescribe the right dose depends on your age, body weight and severity of the condition. For Ointment: Wash and dry the affected area. Apply the medicine and gently massage until it disappears. Do not cover the affected region with any dressing unless your doctor informed you. Wash your hands before and after use. For Soap: Work the soap into a lather and massage the skin and rinse thoroughly.
