Introduction
INTRODUCTION ABOUT PIROXIVAC GELPIROXIVAC GEL contains Piroxicam, which belongs to the group of medicines called Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs. It is used for the management of rheumatism (an autoimmune disease causing painful swelling of joints and stiffness), sprains (ligament tear with limited movements, popping sensation or sound and bruising), strains and mild osteoarthritis (a joint disease that occurs when the protective tissues at the end of the bones wear done which is characterised by joint pain in hands, neck and hip). Piroxicam exerts its anti-inflammatory actions by inhibiting the enzyme cyclooxygenase-1 thereby, blocking the release of prostaglandins (a substance produced during injury and inflammation causing pain and swelling) and other chemical mediators that cause pain and swelling. PIROXIVAC GEL should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Consult your doctor for advice. It should be used with caution during breastfeeding.
