Introduction

PC 8 TABLET contains Piracetam which belongs to the group of medicines known as Nootropics. It is used in the management of myoclonus of cortical origin in combination with other anti-myoclonic therapies. Myoclonus is a sudden, involuntary muscle jerk, shake or spasm that may be caused due to disturbance in the brain and nervous system. Before taking PC 8 TABLET, inform your doctor if you have severe kidney disease and liver problems. Avoid consumption of alcohol during management with this medicine. PC 8 TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant and breast-feeding women unless advised by the doctor. PC 8 TABLET is not recommended for use in children (below 16 years of age). How It Works

PC 8 TABLET is a derivative of the neurotransmitter γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) which improves membrane stability and fluidity in brain thereby restoring the neurotransmission via glutamatergic and cholinergic (ACh) receptors resulting in controlled movements.

Directions for Use

Take PC 8 TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of PC 8 TABLET for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

Drug Interactions

SA. Drug-Drug interactions: Before taking PC 8 TABLET, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines: thyroid extract or thyroxine (medicine used to manage hypothyroidism) anticoagulants such as warfarin or aceno-coumarol (medicine used to manage clotting of blood) low dose aspirin (medicine used as a pain killer) any other medicines including medicines obtained without a prescription Overdosage: If you or anyone else accidentally takes too much of PC 8 TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Overdose may result in bloody diarrhoea with abdominal pain.
