Introduction

INTRODUCTION ABOUT OXA 100MG INFUSIONOXA 100MG INFUSION contains Oxaliplatin which belongs to the group of medicine called Anticancer drugs. It is used to manage cancers of the colon and/or rectum. It is highly used in combination with other anti-cancer medicines (such as 5-flurouracil and folinic acid) as an adjunct to manage stage III colon cancer after removing the primary tumour. It can also be used to manage metastatic colorectal cancer (cancer of colon and rectum that has been spread to other parts of the body). Before receiving OXA 100MG INFUSION inform your doctor if you have any liver, kidney or heart problems. You must also inform your doctor if you have low white blood count in your blood or recently received or planning to receive any vaccination in the upcoming days. OXA 100MG INFUSION is not recommended for use in pregnant or breastfeeding women and in children aged below 18 years. How It Works

OXA 100MG INFUSION is an anticancer medication. It works by damaging the DNA (genetic material) of the cancer cells. As a result, it reduces abnormal growth and multiplication of cancer cells in the body.

Directions for Use

OXA 100MG INFUSION will be given to you only by a doctor or a nurse into a vein (as an intravenous infusion). Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

Side Effects

receiving OXA 100MG INFUSION are tingling and numbness of body parts, abnormal sensation in the throat, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, headache, dizziness, tiredness, weight loss, changes in taste, skin rash, hair loss, mouth ulcers and low blood calcium levels. Contact your doctor if any of these side effect worsens. SIDE EFFECTS OF OXA 100MG INFUSIONCOMMON nerve pain, tingling and numbness of body parts abnormal sensation in the throat, problems in breathing diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, constipation, stomach pain indigestion, heartburn, hiccups low blood counts (causing bleeding, anemia and increased infections) injections site reactions (pain and discomfort) fever, shakiness, headache, dizziness, tiredness, body pains weight loss, lack of appetite changes in taste, nasal bleeds skin rash, itching, flaky skin, hair loss, flushing nail disorder, increased sweating joint pain passing little or no urine high blood pressure depression and lack of sleep low blood calcium levels neck stiffness UNCOMMON nervousness RARE loss of hearing Contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects after receiving OXA 100MG INFUSION: signs of allergic reactions (such as skin rash, swelling of the face, lips, mouth or throat which can lead to difficulty in breathing or swallowing) mouth ulcers (oral sores) low platelet count in blood causing excessive unusual bruising dry cough, difficulty in breathing and crackling sounds sepsis (blood infections) low WBC count causing fever or flu-like symptoms signs of blood clots in lungs (chest pain, difficulty in breathing, coughing up blood) blockage or swelling in the intestines problems in hearing, ringing sound in the ears and spinning sensation severe persistent diarrhea and vomiting short-term vision loss signs of reversible posterior leukoencephalopathy syndrome (a nerve disorder causing headache, altered mental functioning, seizures and abnormal vision from blurriness to vision loss) signs of Haemolytic-uraemic syndrome (such as extreme tiredness, low RBC count, shortness of breath, low platelet count, abnormal bruising, passing little or no urine) inflammation of the lungs pain in upper abdomen and back with nausea and vomiting vascular disorders of the liver (symptoms include abdominal pain and swelling, weight gain and tissue swelling of the feet, ankles or other parts of the body) bleeding in the gut causing bloody stools or vomits

& PRECAUTIONSPREGNANCYOXA 100MG INFUSION is generally not recommended for use in pregnant women. However, consult your doctor before receiving it. Women of childbearing potential must use a suitable contraceptive to avoid pregnancy while undergoing therapy with OXA 100MG INFUSION and until 4 months after stopping the therapy. If you accidentally became pregnant while receiving OXA 100MG INFUSION, inform your doctor immediately. BREASTFEEDINGOXA 100MG INFUSION is not recommended for use in women who are breastfeeding. Therefore, consult your doctor before receiving it. DRIVING AND USING MACHINESDo not drive or operate any machines if your ability is affected by OXA 100MG INFUSION. KIDNEYOXA 100MG INFUSION is not recommended to use in patients with severe kidney problems. It should be used with caution in patients with mild to moderate kidney problems. Therefore, consult your doctor before receiving it. LIVEROXA 100MG INFUSION should be used with caution in patients with liver problems. Therefore, consult your doctor before receiving it. ALLERGYTalk to your doctor before receiving OXA 100MG INFUSION if you are allergic to Oxaliplatin or to any other platinum-based anticancer medicines (such as carboplatin, cisplatin). HEART DISEASEOXA 100MG INFUSION should be used with caution in patients with heart problems (such as prolongation of the QT interval, an irregular heartbeat). It should also be used with caution in patients having a family history of heart problems. Therefore, consult your doctor before receiving it. OTHERSOXA 100MG INFUSION is not recommended for use if you have: reduced number of blood cells tingling and numbness in the fingers and/or toes difficulty in performing delicate tasks (such as buttoning clothes) Inform your doctor, before receiving OXA 100MG INFUSION, if you: recently received any vaccine or plan to receive any vaccines Use in pediatrics: OXA 100MG INFUSION is generally not recommended for use in children and adolescents (under 18 years of age). Therefore, consult your doctor before receiving it. Use in geriatrics: OXA 100MG INFUSION should be used with caution in elderly patients (aged 65 years or above). Therefore, consult your doctor before receiving it.

Drug Interactions

SA. Drug-Drug interactions: Inform your physician, before receiving OXA 100MG INFUSION, if you are taking any of the following medicines such as: other medicines used to manage cancer (Ex. 5-fluorouracil, paclitaxel) medicines used as antibiotics (Ex. erythromycin) medicines used to relieve pain (Ex. salicylates) medicines used for vomiting (Ex. granisetron) medicines used to manage epilepsy (Ex. sodium valproate) live or attenuated vaccines (Ex. yellow fever vaccine) Overdosage: OXA 100MG INFUSION will be administered to you only by a doctor or a nurse in a hospital and so it is unlikely to receive an overdose. However, consult your doctor if you experience any unusual symptoms.
