Introduction
INTRODUCTION ABOUT OCCUMOX 0.5% EYE OINTMENTOCCUMOX 0.5% EYE OINTMENT contains Moxifloxacin which belongs to the group of medicines called Antibiotics. It is used for the management of bacterial conjunctivitis. Bacterial conjunctivitis is the infection of the transparent membrane (conjunctiva) that lines the eyelid and covers the white part of your eyeball. Symptoms of bacterial conjunctivitis include pain, discomfort, redness, itching, irritation, and watery eyes. Patients should be advised not to wear contact lenses if they have signs and symptoms of bacterial conjunctivitis. OCCUMOX 0.5% EYE OINTMENT should be used with caution in pregnant women or if you think you may be pregnant and in breastfeeding woman. Consult your doctor before using. The safety and effectiveness of OCCUMOX 0.5% EYE OINTMENT in infants below 1 year of age have not been established. Consult your doctor for advice before using this medicine. How It Works
OCCUMOX 0.5% EYE OINTMENT works by inhibiting the bacterial enzymes DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV which are required for DNA replication and transcription resulting in cell death. This manages the bacterial cells from dividing and repairing and destroys them.
Directions for Use
Apply OCCUMOX 0.5% EYE OINTMENT as advised by your physician. It is for topical ophthalmic use only. Your doctor will prescribe the right dose depends on your age, body weight and severity of the infection. Hold the tube close to the eye without touching it. Overdosage: If you or anyone else accidentally applies too much of OCCUMOX 0.5% EYE OINTMENT, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital.
