Introduction
NIZONIDE 500MG TABLET contains Nitazoxanide which belongs to the group of medicines called Antiprotozoals. It is used to manage diarrhoea caused by Giardia lamblia or Cryptosporidium parvum. Diarrhoea occurs when not enough water is removed from the stool, or too much fluid is secreted into the stool, making it loose. Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking this medicine. NIZONIDE 500MG TABLET is not effective for the management of diarrhoea caused by C. parvum in HIV-infected or immunodeficient patients. Before taking NIZONIDE 500MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you have kidney, liver, biliary problems. NIZONIDE 500MG TABLET should be used with caution among pregnant women and breastfeeding women as safety data has not been established yet. NIZONIDE 500MG TABLET works by disturbing the energy metabolism in anaerobic microbes. It changes the structure of protozoa cell membranes, mitochondrial membranes, and stops viral replication. Thus killing the protozoa and causing diarrhoea.
Directions for Use
Take NIZONIDE 500MG TABLET as advised by your physician. For Tablet, Capsule: Swallow NIZONIDE 500MG TABLET with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. For Dispersible Tablet: Disperse NIZONIDE 500MG TABLET in the specified quantity of water as mentioned on the label. Consume the mixture immediately after reconstitution. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for you depending on your age, body weight and disease condition.
