USES OF MESACOL ENEMA Manage inflammation of gut caused by conditions such as ulcerative colitis (chronic inflammatory bowel disease) in affected individuals. HOW MESACOL ENEMA WORKSMESACOL ENEMA works by suppressing the production of prostaglandins (chemical messengers responsible for inflammation in the intestines) which results in reduced inflammation and ulceration thus providing relief from ulcerative colitis (and its associated symptoms) in affected individuals. DIRECTIONS FOR USEAdminister MESACOL ENEMA as advised by your physician. It is for rectal use only. Empty your bowels (if necessary) before use and wash your hands. Shake the bottle for atleast 30 seconds. Remove the protective cap from the applicator and hold the bottle by its upper end. Lie down on your left side with your left leg outstretched and your right leg bent. Insert the applicator (coated with a lubricant) for easy insertion into the rectum. Hold the bottle pointed towards your navel and squeeze it gently. Remove the applicator from the rectum when the bottle is empty. Maintain this position for at least 30 minutes and allow the medicine to spread throughout the lower part of the large intestine. Wash your hands (after use) and avoid emptying your bowel until next morning. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
