INTRODUCTION ABOUT MEROCIL 1GM INJECTIONMEROCIL 1GM INJECTION contains Meropenem which belongs to the group of medicines known as Antibiotics. It is used to manage various bacterial infections such as pneumonia (including community acquired pneumonia and nosocomial pneumonia), urinary tract infections, intra-abdominal infections, gynaecological infections such as endometritis and pelvic inflammatory disease, skin and skin structure infections, meningitis and septicaemia. It is also indicated for empiric management, for presumed infections in adult patients with febrile neutropenia, used as monotherapy or in combination with anti-viral or anti-fungal agents. MEROCIL 1GM INJECTION is also used in the management of neutropenic patients with fever that is suspected to be due to a bacterial infection and bacterial infection of the blood. During the management, your doctor may do blood tests from time to time. MEROCIL 1GM INJECTION should be used with caution in patients with liver problems, kidney problems, and diarrhea. MEROCIL 1GM INJECTION is generally not recommended in patients with gastrointestinal problems and hypersensitivity reactions. How It Works
MEROCIL 1GM INJECTION is a broad-spectrum carbapenem antibiotic which is active against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. It exerts its action by penetrating bacterial cells readily and interfering with the synthesis of vital cell wall components, which leads to cell death.
Directions for Use
MEROCIL 1GM INJECTION will be administered intravenously only by a doctor or a nurse. Your doctor will administer the correct dose and duration for you depending on your age, body weight, and severity of the infection.
Side Effects
MEROCIL 1GM INJECTION are abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, skin rash, itchy skin, pain, and inflammation. Consult your doctor if the above symptom does not improve. SIDE EFFECTS OF MEROCIL 1GM INJECTIONCOMMON Abdominal pain Nausea Vomiting Diarrhea Headache Skin rash, itchy skin Pain and inflammation Increased platelets in the blood Change in blood tests UNCOMMON Tingling feeling (pins and needles) Infections of the mouth or the vagina are caused by a fungus (thrush) Diarrhea with bowel inflammation Sore veins Frequent infections, high temperature, and sore throat Sudden beginning of a severe rash or blistering or peeling skin (may be associated with a high fever and joint pains) RARE Fits (seizures) Acute disorientation and confusion Contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects after receiving MEROCIL 1GM INJECTION: Severe allergic reaction (severe rash, itching, or hives on the skin, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or other parts of the body, shortness of breath, wheezing, or trouble breathing) Serious skin reactions (serious hypersensitivity reactions involving fever, skin rash, changes in the blood tests, severe red scaly rash, skin bumps that contain pus, blisters or peeling of the skin, severe skin rashes appearing as reddish circular patches often with central blisters on the trunk, skin peeling, ulcers of mouth, throat, nose, genitals, and eyes) Being breathlessness when you do not expect it and red or brown urine (may be a sign of damage to red blood cells)
