Detailed Information

Introduction

INTRODUCTIONMAGNEON contains Magnesium sulphate which belongs to the group of medicines called Fluids and Electrolytes. It is used to manage magnesium deficiency in the body. It can also be used to control and prevent seizure outbreaks (fits) among pregnant women who have severe pre-eclampsia or eclampsia (serious pregnancy complication caused due to abnormally elevated blood pressure). MAGNEON is suitable for use both in adults and in children and can also be used to restore magnesium levels in patients receiving total parenteral nutrition. Before MAGNEON is administered to you, inform your doctor if you have any liver, kidney or heart problems. You must also inform your doctor if you have muscle weakness, or low blood calcium levels before receiving MAGNEON. MAGNEON may decrease calcium and phosphate levels in the blood. To avoid this, your doctor will constantly monitor the electrolyte levels in your blood and adjust the dose accordingly. It may also cause nausea, vomiting, flushing, headache or drowsiness which usually resolves after few minutes of initiation of the therapy.
