Introduction
INTRODUCTION ABOUT LOTEGATE EYE DROPSLOTEGATE EYE DROPS is a combination of Gatifloxacin and Loteprednol which belongs to the group of medicines called Antibiotics and Corticosteroids respectively. It is used to manage eye inflammation and/or infection following eye surgery. LOTEGATE EYE DROPS is for ophthalmic use only. Instil few drops of the medicine into the affected eye(s). Do not touch the tip of the dropper with your eye or other body surface to avoid contamination. If you wear soft contact lenses, remove the lens before applying LOTEGATE EYE DROPS and wait for at least 15 minutes before reinsertion. Before using LOTEGATE EYE DROPS inform your doctor if you have glaucoma or any bleeding problems. You must also inform your doctor if you have any eye infections as a precaution. How It Works
LOTEGATE EYE DROPS contains two medicines namely gatifloxacin and Loteprednol. Gatifloxacin is an antibacterial agent. When applied topically on the eyes, it kills the susceptible bacteria that causes eye infection. Loteprednol is a corticosteroid medication. It blocks the release of certain chemicals in the body (such as prostaglandins) that causes eye pain, inflammation and swelling. Collectively, they act together and manages eye pain, inflammation and/or infection that can occur following eye surgeries.
Directions for Use
Use LOTEGATE EYE DROPS as advised by your physician. It is for ophthalmic use only. Wash your hands before application. Tilt your head slightly backwards and place the tip of the container close to your eyes. Gently pull your lower eyelid and instil few drops of the medicine as directed by your physician. Close your eyes and gently press the inner corner of your eye for 2 minutes. Repeat the same for the other eye if required. Do not touch the tip of the container with your eyes, eyelids or areas around your eyes or fingers, to avoid contamination. After applying LOTEGATE EYE DROPS, leave a time gap of at least 5 minutes before applying other eye drops or ointment. If you wear soft contact lenses, remove the lens before applying LOTEGATE EYE DROPS and wait for at least 15 minutes before reinsertion. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for you depending upon your age, body weight and health condition.
Side Effects

DRIVING AND USING MACHINESDo not drive or operate any machines if you experience blurred vision after using LOTEGATE EYE DROPS. Wait, until your vision becomes clear. ALLERGYDo not use LOTEGATE EYE DROPS if you are allergic to Gatifloxacin, Loteprednol, other quinolones (such as moxifloxacin) or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medicines (such as aspirin). LUNGSLOTEGATE EYE DROPS should be used with caution in patients who previously developed asthma while using any non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Therefore, consult your doctor before application. OTHERSLOTEGATE EYE DROPS is not recommended for use if you: have any bacterial, fungal or viral infections in the eye Before using LOTEGATE EYE DROPS inform your doctor if you: have glaucoma have any bleeding problems Use in pediatrics: LOTEGATE EYE DROPS is generally not recommended for use in children and adolescents (aged below 18 years). Therefore, consult your doctor before application. Use in geriatrics: LOTEGATE EYE DROPS should be used with caution in elderly patients (aged 65 years and above). Drug Interactions
SA. Drug-Drug interactions: Before using LOTEGATE EYE DROPS, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines such as: anticholinergics (used to manage a variety of conditions such as gastrointestinal cramps, muscular spasms, urge incontinence or asthma) such as baclofen, prazosin, dicyclomine medicines used to manage glaucoma (such as timolol) Overdosage: If you or anyone else accidentally used more LOTEGATE EYE DROPS, rinse your eye with warm water. If still irritation persists, consult your doctor.
