Introduction
LOMIDE TABLET contains Loperamide which belongs to the group of medicines called Antidiarrheals. It is used to manage acute attacks of diarrhea (in adults and children over 12 years of age) and acute episodes of diarrhea associated with irritable bowel syndrome (group of symptoms that affects the digestive system such as abdominal cramps, gas, bloating and diarrhea) (in adults aged 18 years and over). Before taking LOMIDE TABLET, inform your doctor if you have liver disease, acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), low body fluids and salts (due to diarrhea), intolerance to certain sugars and if you have a history of intolerance to certain sugars such as lactose. LOMIDE TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant and breast-feeding women. It is not recommended for use in children (less than 12 years of age) and it should be used with with caution in children (above 12 years of age) for short-term diarrhea. How It Works
LOMIDE TABLET acts by decreasing the muscle contraction and fluid secretion, resulting in longer stomach and intestinal transit time and increased absorption of fluids and electrolytes from the gastrointestinal tract. Thus, helps to manage diarrhoea by slowing down the overactive bowel.
Directions for Use
Take LOMIDE TABLET as advised by your doctor. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

Drug-drug interactions: Before taking LOMIDE TABLET, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines: gemfibrozil (used to manage high cholesterol levels) quinidine (used to manage abnormal heart rhythm) ritonavir (used to manage HIV infection) itraconazole, ketoconazole (used to manage fungal infections) oral desmopressin (used in the management of diabetes insipidus) other antidiarrheal preparations such as bismuth subsalicylate (used to manage diarrhea) Over dosage: If you or anyone else accidentally take too much of LOMIDE TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms of overdose includes, increased heart rate, irregular heartbeat, muscle stiffness, uncoordinated movements, drowsiness, difficulty urinating or weak breathing.
