Introduction
LAMOSYN 50MG TABLET contains Lamotrigine which belongs to the group of medicines called Anti-epileptics. It is used along with other medicines to manage epilepsy (phase of uncontrolled electrical signals in the brain, causing seizures). LAMOSYN 50MG TABLET is also used in adults for the long-term management of bipolar I disorder to prolong the time between mood episodes in people who have been managed for mood episodes with other medicine. extreme mood swings including emotional highs (mania or hypomania) and lows (depression). Your doctor will monitor your management and may advise you to avoid sunlight or protect yourself against the sun (Ex. use of a sunscreen and to wear protective clothing). Before taking LAMOSYN 50MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you have or had depression, heart problems or mood disorders, if you had aseptic meningitis after taking LAMOSYN 50MG TABLET or if you are taking pills to manage pregnancy. LAMOSYN 50MG TABLET should be used with caution in pregnant or breastfeeding women. LAMOSYN 50MG TABLET likely works similarly in bipolar disorder, as it does in reducing seizures. It acts by inhibiting sodium currents (which is out of control in epileptic patients) via suppression of the release of glutamate (an excitatory brain chemical).
Directions for Use
Take LAMOSYN 50MG TABLET as advised by your physician. You can take it with meals or on an empty stomach. For Tablet: Swallow LAMOSYN 50MG TABLET with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew it. For Dispersible Tablet: Disperse LAMOSYN 50MG TABLET in the specified quantity of water as mentioned in the label. Consume the mixture immediately after reconstitution. Your doctor will decide a proper dose and duration of therapy for you according to your age, body weight and disease condition. Continue to take LAMOSYN 50MG TABLET for the prescribed duration to achieve better results. Do not stop taking LAMOSYN 50MG TABLET unless your doctor advises you to stop.

LIVERLAMOSYN 50MG TABLET should be taken with caution in patients with moderate to severe liver problems. Consult your doctor before taking it. ALLERGYDo not take LAMOSYN 50MG TABLET if you are allergic to Lamotrigine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine. Inform your doctor if you had a rash or allergic reaction to another antiepileptic medicine. HEART DISEASELAMOSYN 50MG TABLET should be taken with caution in patients with a personal or family history of heart problems or irregular heartbeats, including genetic abnormalities. Drug-Drug interactions: Before taking LAMOSYN 50MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines: medicines used to manage epilepsy and mental health problems (Ex. oxcarbazepine, phenobarbital, primidone, phenytoin, valproate) medicines used for HIV management (Ex. lopinavir, ritonavir, atazanavir, ritonavir) medicines used to manage pregnancy (Ex. ethinylestradiol, levonorgestrel) rifampin (used for bacterial infections like tuberculosis) Overdosage: If you or anyone else accidentally take too much of LAMOSYN 50MG TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital.
