Introduction
INTRODUCTIONISONIT 10 contains Isosorbide dinitrate which belongs to the group of medicines called Nitrate Vasodilators. It is used to prevent angina pectoris due to coronary artery disease and helps to control certain types of heart failure. Angina pectoris is defined as a sudden, sharp, severe pain originating from the apex of heart and radiating to the left shoulder. The pain is severe and crushing, and it is characterized by feeling of pressure and suffocation, behind breastbone. ISONIT 10 is not recommended for use if you have anaemia, had a heart attack, bleeding in the brain, head injury, very low blood pressure, low blood volume (hypovolaemia). Before taking ISONIT 10, inform your doctor if you have any liver, kidney, heart, or thyroid problems, glaucoma, or extremely low body temperature. Avoid consumption of alcohol during management with ISONIT 10 as it may increase the risk of low blood pressure. If you are pregnant or think you might be pregnant or planning to have a baby ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine. ISONIT 10 should be used with caution in breastfeeding women. How It Works
ISONIT 10 works by relaxing the blood vessels of the heart and this reduces the strain on the heart making it easier to pump blood, thereby it provides relief from anginal symptoms.
Directions for Use
Take ISONIT 10 as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you based upon your age and disease condition. Do not stop taking ISONIT 10 unless your doctor advises you to stop.

ALLERGYDo not take ISONIT 10 if you are allergic to Isosorbide dinitrate or other nitrates (such as isosorbide mononitrate, nitroglycerin) or any of the other ingredients of this medicine. LUNGSISONIT 10 should be used with caution in patients with impaired gas exchange due to lung disease. Consult your doctor before taking ISONIT 10. HEART DISEASEISONIT 10 is not recommended for use in patients who had a heart attack (myocardial infarction), circulatory failure and congestive heart failure. ISONIT 10 should be used with caution in heart conditions like hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy (heart muscle becomes abnormally thick), constrictive pericarditis (sac-like covering of the heart (the pericardium) becomes thickened and scarred), cardiac tamponade (compression of the heart caused by fluid collecting in the sac surrounding the heart), low cardiac filling pressures, aortic/mitral valve stenosis, diseases associated with raised pressure in the head, or impaired gas exchange due to ischemic heart disease. Consult your doctor before taking ISONIT 10. OTHERSISONIT 10 is not recommended for use if you: suffer from anaemia (reduction in red blood cells which can make the skin pale and cause weakness or breathlessness) had a brain haemorrhage (bleeding) had a head injury (trauma) have a low blood volume (hypovolaemia) have very low blood pressure Before taking ISONIT 10 inform your doctor if you: have glaucoma (increased pressure in the eye) have an underactive thyroid gland are undernourished as a result of poor diet are suffering from hypothermia suffer from very poor circulation Use in pediatrics: ISONIT 10 is not recommended for use in children. Drug Interactions
SA. Drug - Drug interactions: Before taking ISONIT 10, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines: betablockers (Ex. atenolol), calcium channel blockers (Ex. amlodipine), vasodilators (Ex. hydralazine), ACE inhibitors (Ex. enalapril) (used to manage high blood pressure) monoamine oxidase inhibitors such as phenelzine, selegiline and tricyclic antidepressants such as amitriptyline, amoxapine (used to manage depression) neuroleptics such as thioridazine, chlorpromazine (used to manage symptoms of schizophrenia) riociguat (used to manage pulmonary hypertension) phosphodiesterase inhibitors such as sildenafil, tadalafil, or vardenafil (used to manage male erectile dysfunction) ergotamine (used to manage migraine) sapropterin (used to lower phenylalanine levels in the blood) Overdosage: If you or anyone else accidentally takes too much of ISONIT 10, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms of overdose are extremely low blood pressure, nausea or dizziness.
