Introduction
INTRODUCTION ABOUT GTN 0.4MG SPRAYGTN 0.4MG SPRAY contains Nitroglycerin (glyceryl trinitrate) which belongs to the group of medicines called vasodilators. It is used to manage angina at the onset of an attack. GTN 0.4MG SPRAY is also used for the management of angina, which can be brought on from emotional stress, physical effort, or exposure to cold. Angina is a type of chest pain occurring because of reduced blood flow to the heart. Symptoms includes chest pain, difficulty to breath, dizziness, tiredness etc. Along with GTN 0.4MG SPRAY, your doctor may advise you to make certain lifestyle changes such as quitting alcohol and smoking, eating a healthy diet, manage weight and improve your sleep pattern. GTN 0.4MG SPRAY is not recommended for use in patients having heart or lung diseases, decreased blood pressure, shock due to low blood pressure, severe anaemia, and other diseases like glucose 6 phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency (inherited disease seen in men), failure of circulating blood, had history of head injury or bleeding or if you are taking medicines to manage erectile function (sildenafil) or increased pressure in the lungs (riociguat). Before using GTN 0.4MG SPRAY, inform your doctor if you have liver or kidney diseases, any conditions that increases pressure within brain, glaucoma (increased pressure in eyes), thyroid diseases, problem controlling blood pressure. GTN 0.4MG SPRAY causes relaxation of smooth muscles within blood vessels which leads to relaxation and widening of blood vessels. This improves blood supply to the heart muscles. As a result, it helps to relieve chest pain and blood pressure.
Directions for Use
Take GTN 0.4MG SPRAY as exactly as advised by your doctor. Spray the medicine beneath your tongue. Your doctor will decide the correct dose (number of sprays) and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and severity of condition.

HEART DISEASEGTN 0.4MG SPRAY is not recommended for use in patients having heart diseases such as constructive pericarditis (sharp chest pain), low heart rate, narrowing of blood vessels or valves of the heart, cardiogenic shock (due to low blood pressure you may feel dizziness and light-headedness, fast pulse rate, white skin, sweating, restlessness, or loss of consciousness). GTN 0.4MG SPRAY should be used with caution in patients having other heart diseases such as fluid around the heart (pericardial tamponade) or low filling pressures (such as in acute myocardial infarction). Drug – Drug interactions: Before using GTN 0.4MG SPRAY inform your doctor if you are taking the following medicines: medicine used to manage erectile dysfunction (Ex. sildenafil, tadalafil, vardenafil) medicine used to manage increased pressure in lungs (Ex. riociguat) medicine used to manage heart diseases, increased blood pressure (Ex. enalapril, verapamil, propranolol, isosorbide dinitrate) medicines used to manage mental health conditions (Ex. amitriptyline, amoxapine, desipramine) medicines such as diuretics used to reduce fluid build-up in the body (Ex. spironolactone, furosemide) medicine used to manage blood clotting (Ex. heparin) medicine used to manage migraine (Ex. dihydroergotamine) Overdosage: If you or anyone else accidentally use too much of GTN 0.4MG SPRAY, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms of overdosage includes nausea, weakness and sweating, fainting, bluish discolouration to skin and lips(cyanosis) and methemoglobinemia (blood disorder).
