Introduction
INTRODUCTION ABOUT GRANDEM 1MG INJECTIONGRANDEM 1MG INJECTION contains a medicine Granisetron which belongs to a group of medicines called Anti-emetics. It is used to manage or manage nausea (feeling sick) and vomiting (being sick) caused by other medical managements such as chemotherapy or radiation management for cancer or by surgery. Before receiving GRANDEM 1MG INJECTION inform your doctor if you have heart disease, blockage in your stomach or intestines, or electrolyte abnormalities. GRANDEM 1MG INJECTION is not recommended for use in pregnant and breastfeeding women. Consult with your doctor before receiving it. GRANDEM 1MG INJECTION should not be given to children below 2 years of age. GRANDEM 1MG INJECTION can be used in elderly people (65 years and older).

How It Works
GRANDEM 1MG INJECTION acts by inhibiting a receptor called 5-HT3 receptor which is present both in the brain and gastrointestinal tract. This inhibition of 5-HT3 receptors in turn inhibits the stimulation of the vomiting centre, managing nausea and vomiting.
Directions for Use
GRANDEM 1MG INJECTION will be given as an injection into the veins (intravenous) by your doctor or nurse. Your doctor will give the right dose depending on your age, body weight and health condition.
Side Effects
receiving GRANDEM 1MG INJECTION are headache, constipation, problems sleeping (insomnia), and diarrhoea. Consult with your doctor if any of these worsen or doesn’t improve. SIDE EFFECTS OF GRANDEM 1MG INJECTIONCOMMON headache constipation problems sleeping (insomnia) changes in liver function tests (pain in the abdomen, nausea, vomiting, jaundice) diarrhoea RAREStop receiving GRANDEM 1MG INJECTION and inform your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects: changes in the heartbeat, chest pain, irregular heartbeat and changes seen on ECG readings (electrical recordings of the heart) swelling of the hands, feet, ankles, face, lips and mouth or throat, which may cause difficulty in swallowing or breathing rash or itching fainting serotonin syndrome symptoms such as diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, high temperature and blood pressure, excessive sweating and rapid heartbeat, agitation, confusion, hallucination, shivering, muscle shakes, jerks or stiffness, loss of coordination and restlessness

DRIVING AND USING MACHINESGRANDEM 1MG INJECTION is not likely to affect your ability to drive or use any tools or machines. ALLERGYDo not receive GRANDEM 1MG INJECTION if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to Granisetron or any other ingredients of this medicine. HEART DISEASEGRANDEM 1MG INJECTION should be used with caution in patients suffering from heart disease. Consult your doctor for advice before receiving this medicine. OTHERSBefore receiving GRANDEM 1MG INJECTION, inform your doctor if you have: blockage in the intestine (stomach-ache, wind, feeling or being sick, or difficulty passing stools) electrolyte abnormalities (potassium, sodium, or calcium) serotonin syndrome been or are being managed for cancer with a medicine that might cause damage to your heart Use in pediatrics: GRANDEM 1MG INJECTION is not recommended for use in children below 2 years of age. Consult with your child’s doctor before giving this to your child. Use in geriatrics: GRANDEM 1MG INJECTION can be used in elderly people (65 years and older). Drug Interactions
SA. Drug - Drug interactions: Before receiving GRANDEM 1MG INJECTION, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines: other 5-HT3 receptor antagonist such as dolasetron or ondansetron (used to manage nausea and vomiting) diltiazem, amlodipine (medicines used to manage an irregular heartbeat) phenobarbital (used to manage epilepsy) ketoconazole (used to manage fungal infections) paroxetine, sertraline, fluvoxamine, citalopram, venlafaxine, duloxetine, escitalopram (used to manage depression and/or anxiety) erythromycin (used to manage certain bacterial infections) Overdosage: GRANDEM 1MG INJECTION will be administered only by a doctor or a nurse in a hospital, and so it is unlikely to receive an overdose. However, consult your doctor or nurse if there are any unusual symptoms such as headache.
