Introduction

INTRODUCTION ABOUT GCOM EYE DROPSGCOM EYE DROPS is a combination of Gatifloxacin and Ketorolac which belongs to the group of medicines called Antibiotics and Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) respectively. It is used to manage eye inflammation and/or infection following eye surgery. GCOM EYE DROPS is for ophthalmic use only. Instil few drops of the medicine into the affected eye(s). Do not touch the tip of the dropper with your eye or other body surface to avoid contamination. If you wear soft contact lenses, remove the lens before applying GCOM EYE DROPS and wait for at least 15 minutes before reinsertion. Before using GCOM EYE DROPS inform your doctor if you have diabetes, arthritis or bleeding problems. You must also inform your doctor if you have any eye infections as a precaution. How It Works

GCOM EYE DROPS contains two medicines namely gatifloxacin and ketorolac. Gatifloxacin is an antibacterial agent. When applied topically on the eyes, it kills the susceptible bacteria that causes eye infection. Ketorolac is a pain-relieving medicine. It blocks the release of certain chemicals in the body (such as prostaglandins) that causes eye pain, inflammation and swelling. Collectively, they act together and manages eye pain, inflammation and/or infection that can occur following eye surgeries.

Directions for Use

Use GCOM EYE DROPS as advised by your physician. It is for ophthalmic use only. Wash your hands before application. Tilt your head slightly backwards and place the tip of the container close to your eyes. Gently pull your lower eyelid and instil few drops of the medicine as directed by your physician. Close your eyes and gently press the inner corner of your eye for 2 minutes. Repeat the same for the other eye if required. Do not touch the tip of the container with your eyes, eyelids or areas around your eyes or fingers, to avoid contamination. Apply applying GCOM EYE DROPS, leave a time gap of at least 5 minutes before applying other eye drops or ointment. If you wear soft contact lenses, remove the lens before applying GCOM EYE DROPS and wait for at least 15 minutes before reinsertion. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for you depending upon your age, body weight and health condition.

Side Effects

BREASTFEEDINGGCOM EYE DROPS is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women unless considered necessary by the physician. Therefore, inform your doctor before using it. DRIVING AND USING MACHINESDo not drive or operate any machines if you experience blurred vision after using GCOM EYE DROPS. Wait, until your vision becomes clear. ALLERGYDo not use GCOM EYE DROPS if you are allergic to Gatifloxacin, Ketorolac or to any other NSAIDs (such as aspirin). LUNGSGCOM EYE DROPS should be used with caution in patients who previously developed asthma while using any non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Therefore, consult your doctor before application. OTHERSBefore using GCOM EYE DROPS inform your doctor if you currently have or previously had: any bacterial or viral infections in the eye bleeding problems diabetes rheumatoid arthritis (joint pain) dry eye syndrome repeated eye surgery within a short period of time Use in pediatrics: GCOM EYE DROPS is generally not recommended for use in children and adolescents (aged below 18 years). Therefore, consult your doctor before application. Use in geriatrics: GCOM EYE DROPS should be used with caution in elderly patients (aged 65 years and above). Therefore, consult your doctor before application.

Drug Interactions

SA. Drug-Drug interactions: Before using GCOM EYE DROPS, inform your doctor if you are taking any medicines including prescription medicines, non-prescription medicines and herbal medicines. Overdosage: If you or anyone else accidentally used more GCOM EYE DROPS, rinse your eye with warm water. If still irritation persists, consult your doctor.
