INTRODUCTION ABOUT GANCIGEL OPHTHALMIC GELGANCIGEL OPHTHALMIC GEL contains Ganciclovir, which belongs to the group of medicines called Antivirals. It is used to manage an infection in the eye called acute herpetic keratitis in adults aged 18 years and over. GANCIGEL OPHTHALMIC GEL is not recommended for use if you have any pre-existing cytopenia or a history of cytopenic reactions to other drugs, chemicals or irradiation. Before using GANCIGEL OPHTHALMIC GEL, inform your doctor if you have kidney, liver or heart diseases. Remove contact lenses before using this medicine and put them back 15 minutes later. DRIVING AND USING MACHINESDo not drive or operate any machines if you have visual disturbances, blurred vision or eyesight problems. LIVERGANCIGEL OPHTHALMIC GEL should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Consult your doctor before using it. ALLERGYDo not use GANCIGEL OPHTHALMIC GEL if you are allergic to Ganciclovir. HEART DISEASEGANCIGEL OPHTHALMIC GEL should be used with caution in patients with heart disease. OTHERSGANCIGEL OPHTHALMIC GEL is not recommended for use if you have: eye irritation, especially if you have dry eyes or disorders of the cornea (the clear layer at the front of the eye) Use in Pediatrics: Do not give this GANCIGEL OPHTHALMIC GEL to children and adolescents under the age of 18. Drug Interactions
SA. Drug-Drug interactions: Inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicine: probenecid (manages gout) trimethoprim/sulpha, dapsone, pentamidine, amphotericin B, imipenem/cilastatin or zidovudine vincristine, vinblastine, adriamycin or flucytosine Overdosage: If you or anyone else accidentally uses too much of GANCIGEL OPHTHALMIC GEL, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital.
