Introduction
EME OD TABLET contains Palonosetron which belongs to the group of medicines called Serotonin antagonists. It is used to control nausea and vomiting resulting from chemotherapy (management of cancer) in adults. EME OD TABLET should be used with caution in patients with heart diseases or a family history of heart diseases such as QT prolongation (changes in a heartbeat), chronic constipation or blocked bowels and unmanageed electrolyte imbalances such as potassium and magnesium in the blood. EME OD TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnancy unless clearly necessary as it is not known whether it may cause harm to the unborn baby. Contact your doctor before taking it. How It Works
EME OD TABLET blocks the action of serotonin, which induces nausea and vomiting (serotonin is a chemical that carries messages between nerve cells in the brain and throughout the body).
Directions for Use
Always take as directed by your physician. EME OD TABLET usually will be taken orally as prescribed by your doctor 60 minutes prior to your routine chemotherapy. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

Drug-Drug Interactions: Before taking this medicine, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicine: medicines used to manage depression and anxiety (such as fluoxetine, paroxetine, sertraline, fluvoxamine, citalopram, escitalopram, venlafaxine, duloxetine, moclobemide, mirtazapine) medicines used in cardiac disorders (amiodarone, nicardipine, quinidine) antibiotics (medicines used to manage bacterial infections such as moxifloxacin, erythromycin) medicines used for serious mental disorders (haloperidol, chlorpromazine, quetiapine, thioridazine, lithium) domperidone (used for managing nausea and vomiting) fentanyl, tramadol (medicines used for severe pain) intravenous methylene blue (medicines used to manage methemoglobinemia) B. Drug-Food Interactions: EME OD TABLET contains lecithin which comes from soya. Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to peanuts, soya or sugars. Overdosage: Contact your doctor immediately, if you think you have taken an extra dose of EME OD TABLET. Symptoms of overdosage include fits, laboured breathing and salivation.
