Allantoin is a keratolytic agent that dissolves the intercellular bond that holds the cornified cells together, helping the natural desquamation of stratum corneum and increasing skin smoothness. It also acts as a moisturizing agent by its ability to increase the water bound to the intercellular matrix and keratin, thereby softening skin, and making the skin look healthier. The soothing, anti-irritant, and skin-protectant effects are due to the ability of Allantoin to form complexes and neutralize many irritant and sensitizing agents. Shea butter promotes the inactivation of proteases involved in the degradation of collagen. Dimethicone is an effective moisturizing ingredient that forms a layer on the skin to delay the evaporation of water. Always use as advised by your doctor. It is for external use only.
