Introduction

CTD L 6.25/50MG TABLET is a combination of Chlorthalidone and Losartan which belongs to the group of medicines called Antihypertensive drugs. It is used in adults to manage mild to moderate high blood pressure which is not adequately controlled by monotherapy. High blood pressure (also known as hypertension) is a medical condition in which the force of the blood exerted against the walls of the artery remains very high and as a result it may lead to severe damage to the blood vessels supplying several organs, thus causing heart attack, heart or kidney failure, stroke or even blindness. How It Works

CTD L 6.25/50MG TABLET effectively reduces elevated blood pressure where losartan acts by blocking the actions of Angiotensin – II (a substance that causes narrowing of blood vessels and increase in blood pressure) at the angiotensin type-I receptors of the vascular smooth muscle and chlorthalidone acts by increasing the urinary excretion of sodium and water by inhibiting sodium-chloride reabsorption in the kidneys, thus leading to a marked decrease in blood pressure.

Directions for Use

Take CTD L 6.25/50MG TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of CTD L 6.25/50MG TABLET for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition. Do not stop taking CTD L 6.25/50MG TABLET unless your doctor advises you to stop.

Side Effects

Consult your doctor before taking CTD L 6.25/50MG TABLET. DRIVING AND USING MACHINESDo not drive or use any machines if you feel dizzy after taking CTD L 6.25/50MG TABLET. KIDNEYCTD L 6.25/50MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with severe kidney problems, kidney stones or if you are not passing any urine at all. It should be used with caution in patients with narrowing or blockage of the blood vessels leading to kidneys or if you have recently received a kidney transplant. Consult your doctor before taking CTD L 6.25/50MG TABLET. LIVERCTD L 6.25/50MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with severe liver impairment. It should be used with caution in patients with impaired liver function. Consult your doctor before taking CTD L 6.25/50MG TABLET. ALLERGYDo not take CTD L 6.25/50MG TABLET if you are allergic to Chlorthalidone, Losartan or sulphonamides such as sulfamethoxazole. HEART DISEASECTD L 6.25/50MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with heart failure with or without concomitant severe life-threatening irregular heartbeat, problems with your heart valves or heart muscle, coronary heart disease, and cerebrovascular disease (caused by a reduced blood flow in the brain). Consult your doctor before taking CTD L 6.25/50MG TABLET. OTHERSCTD L 6.25/50MG TABLET is not recommended for use if you: have low blood potassium levels (signs include muscle weakness, muscle twitching, abnormal heartbeat) have low blood sodium levels (signs include tiredness, confusion, muscle twitching, fits, coma) have high blood calcium levels (signs include loss of appetite, tiredness, muscle and weakness) ever had gout have Addison’s disease (your adrenal gland does not produce enough steroids) have diabetes (high blood sugar) and managed with a blood pressure-lowering medicine containing aliskiren Before taking CTD L 6.25/50MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you: have a history of angioedema (face, lips, throat or tongue swelling) have excessive vomiting or diarrhoea or under dietary salt restriction leading to an extreme loss of fluid or salt from your body have primary hyperaldosteronism (increased secretion of the hormone aldosterone by the adrenal gland) have high cholesterol levels Use in pediatrics: CTD L 6.25/50MG TABLET is not recommended for use in children (under 6 years of age or younger) and those having kidney or liver problems. Your child’s doctor may adjust the dose depending on the child’s age and body weight. Consult your child’s doctor for advice. Use in geriatrics: CTD L 6.25/50MG TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients. Your doctor may initiate the management with the lowest effective dose. Consult your doctor before taking CTD L 6.25/50MG TABLET.
