CODISTAR P Drops 15ml

CODISTAR P DROPS is used in children (aged 6 months and above) to provide relief from cough associated with common cold, chest congestion and respiratory problems. It is a combination medicine containing Ambroxol, Guaiphenesin and Terbutaline which reduces cough, expels mucus from nasal and respiratory tract and dilates the airways to facilitate cough reduction and effective breathing.

This medicine is preferably used in babies aged 6 months or older for cough relief. It is considered safe when used at doses prescribed by the physician. It may make your child feel sleepy or tired which is manageable.

CODISTAR P DROPS contains a combination of three medicines namely Ambroxol, guaiphenesin and terbutaline. Ambroxol is an antitussive which works by loosening thick mucus. Guaiphenesin is an expectorant which helps in expulsion of loosened mucus from nasal and respiratory tract. Terbutaline is a bronchodilator which widens the air passage relieving chest congestion and promoting easy breathing

Shake the medicine well before use. Take the required ml of the medicine in the dropper provided with the pack and administer the drops orally to your child. Rinse the dropper before and after use. Store the dropper with proper hygiene to avoid contamination. Your doctor will examine your child’s age and body weight and would suggest you the suitable dosage and frequency. Typically, this medicine would be given twice daily (i.e.,) morning and at bedtime after food. Do not offer water to your child after giving the medicine to avoid getting dilution. If your child cannot drink this medicine as such, consult with your doctor for alternative methods of consumption like mixing the medicine with food or juices.

Follow the dosing instructions advised by your child’s doctor. Before administering CODISTAR P DROPS to your child, inform your doctor if your child has any congenital liver, kidney or heart problems or juvenile diabetes or has a history of seizures. Shake the medicine well before use. Rinse the dropper before and after use. Store the dropper with proper hygiene to avoid contamination.

CODISTAR P DROPS is a paediatric medicine and not intended for use in adults. Adults who wish to manage productive cough, can consult your doctor for alternative medicines.

If you’re using this medicine for cough associated with common cold it is usually prescribed for 7 days twice daily (morning and at bedtime) after food. However, you can continue using it for 3-4 days additionally if still symptoms persist. If cough did not improve within first 3-4 days of therapy, inform your doctor. Your doctor might switch you to a different combination medicine if necessary.If you are using this medicine to manage cough due to respiratory illnesses, it will help only in symptomatic cough relief until the underlying conditions are addressed and treated appropriately.

CODISTAR P DROPS may cause mild side effects like drowsiness, tiredness and sleepiness in children which would make them sleep more or stay less active. These side effects are often considered beneficial as it makes children stay in rest for more time to fasten the recovery.

This medicine would start working within 30 minutes of administration. You might start noticing improvements in cough relief within the first two days of therapy.
