Introduction

CHLORPROMAZINE 50MG TABLET contains Chlorpromazine which belongs to the group of medicines called Antipsychotics. It is used to manage the following conditions such as schizophrenia and other psychoses (especially paranoid), mania and hypomania, anxiety psychomotor agitation excitement, violent or dangerously impulsive behaviour, intractable hiccup and nausea, vomiting of terminal illness (where other medicines have failed or are not available). It is also used to manage schizophrenia and autism (in children). It is not recommended for use in patients with CNS depression, bone marrow depression and Phaeochromocytoma. Consult your doctor for advice before taking the medicine. Before taking this medicine inform your doctor if you have heart diseases, liver disease or kidney problems, thyroid, epilepsy, and parkinson’s disease. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult their doctors before taking this medicine. CHLORPROMAZINE 50MG TABLET exerts its antipsychotic effect by blocking postsynaptic dopamine receptors in cortical and limbic areas of the brain, thereby managing the excess of dopamine in the brain.

Directions for Use

Take CHLORPROMAZINE 50MG TABLET as directed by your physician. Swallow the medicine as a whole with a plenty of water and do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose for you depending upon your conditions.

Drug-Drug interactions: Before taking CHLORPROMAZINE 50MG TABLET tell your physician if you are taking any of the following medicine: benztropine (used to manage Parkinson’s disease) antacids (used to manage ulcers) lithium (used as mood stabilizers) ciprofloxacin (manages infection) fluvoxamine (manages OCD) oral contraceptives vemurafenib (used to manage cancer) oral anticoagulants (used to manage blood clot) guanethidine and clonidine quinidine, disopyramide, amiodarone and sotalol (manages heart disorders) bepridil, cisapride, sultopride, thioridazine, methadone intravenous erythromycin, intravenous vincamine halofantrine, pentamidine, sparfloxacin stimulant laxatives, intravenous amphotericin B glucocorticoids and tetracosactides other antipsychotic medicines Overdosage: If you or anyone else accidentally took too much of this medicine, consult your doctor immediately.
