Detailed Information
Introduction
INTRODUCTIONCHLORNOL 6.25 contains Chlorthalidone which belongs to the group of medicines called Diuretics. It is used to manage hypertension (high blood pressure) and heart failure. It also reduces fluid accumulation (edema) from the body that is caused due to certain liver or kidney diseases. It also helps in the management of diabetes insipidus. Diabetes insipidus is a very rare condition in which the patient experiences excessive loss of fluids from the body in the form of urine. It happens due to problems in the pituitary hormones (such as vasopressin). Chlorthalidone is a thiazide diuretic. It removes the extra water and certain electrolytes from the body. This reduces edema and other heart problems such as high blood pressure or heart failure. It can also control fluid loss in patients who are already experiencing loss of water from the body (such as in diabetes insipidus) by making the kidneys produce less urine. Before taking CHLORNOL 6.25, inform your doctor if you have any kidney or liver problems, problems in urination, having gout, diabetes mellitus or if you are on a low-salt diet. CHLORNOL 6.25 is not recommended for use in women who are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or on breastfeeding. CHLORNOL 6.25 may make you feel dizzy while standing up or moving suddenly. Therefore, be cautions while you drive or operate any heavy tools. It may also alter the levels of certain electrolytes (such as magnesium, potassium, sodium, and chloride) in the body which may cause such as muscle weakness, muscle twitching, abnormal heartbeat, tiredness, confusion, or headache. To avoid this, your doctor will closely monitor your serum electrolyte levels periodically during management with CHLORNOL 6.25.
Uses
OF CHLORNOL 6.25Used to manage: hypertension fluid retention (edema) heart failure diabetes insipidus
How It Works
CHLORNOL 6.25 removes extra excess fluids from the body. It acts by preventing the reabsorption of sodium and chloride in the kidneys. This relaxes blood vessels and reduces elevated blood pressure. It also improves blood flow through the blood vessels and protect the functions of heart. On a contrary, CHLORNOL 6.25 can also control fluid loss in patients who are already experiencing loss of water and electrolytes from the body (such as in diabetes insipidus). During conditions with excessive fluid loss, preventing of sodium and chloride reabsorption in the kidneys by chlorthalidone would make the kidneys produce less urine and therefore controls fluid loss in patients with diabetes insipidus.
