INTRODUCTION ABOUT CANESTEN CREAMCanesten Cream is an anti-fungal cream used for the management of various fungal skin infections such as ringworm, athlete’s foot (fungal foot infection), fungal nappy rash and fungal sweat rash. It is also used for relieving irritation due to fungal infection of genitals (end of penis or vulva). It contains clotrimazole as an active ingredient to manage fungal skin infections. Clotrimazole exerts its antifungal activity by inhibiting the biosynthesis of ergosterol, an essential constituent of fungal cell membrane which helps to keep the fungal cell intact and directly promotes its growth. Inhibition of ergosterol biosynthesis damages the fungal cell integrity and leads to the inhibition of fungal growth. Always use Canesten Cream as advised by the doctor. It is for external use only. Before application, clean and dry the affected area. Then, apply Canesten Cream as a thin layer evenly over the affected area for the duration as advised by the doctor.
