Introduction

BRILLO 180 TABLET contains Bempedoic Acid which belongs to the group of medicines called Lipid lowering agents. It is used alone or together with cholesterol-lowering medicine (statins) to manage primary hypercholesterolaemia (condition in which blood cholesterol level rises above the normal limits) or mixed dyslipidaemia in adults when statins become intolerable to manage the condition in affected individuals. Mixed dyslipidaemia is a condition that occurs due to elevations in low-density lipoprotein (LDL) (known as bad cholesterol) and triglyceride levels accompanied with low levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) (known as good cholesterol) which is generally characterized by the symptoms such as tightness/pain in chest, dizziness, and awareness of heartbeat (palpitation). BRILLO 180 TABLET is not recommended for use if you are allergic to bempedoic acid. It should be used with caution in patients with severe liver or kidney problems, and in patients with a history of gout (condition caused due to raised blood uric acid levels). It is not recommended for use in pregnant and breastfeeding women, also, not recommended for use in children and adolescents (aged below 18 years) and it should be used with caution in elderly patients (aged 75 years and above). BRILLO 180 TABLET works by inhibiting ATP citrate lyase (enzyme responsible for synthesis of cholesterol especially low-density lipoprotein (LDL) / bad cholesterol) which leads to enhanced LDL uptake and clearance in the liver resulting in lowered total blood cholesterol levels.

Directions for Use

Take BRILLO 180 TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

Side Effects

BRILLO 180 TABLET are anaemia (lower number of red blood cells) and pain in shoulders, legs, or arms. Consult your doctor if any of the symptom worsens.
