Introduction
INTRODUCTION ABOUT AZUNATE 60MG INJECTIONAZUNATE 60MG INJECTION contains Artesunate which belongs to the group of medicines called Antimalarials. It is used for the management of severe malaria including cerebral malaria in adult and paediatric patients. Also, it can also be used against quinine resistance. Malaria is mosquito-borne acute febrile disease caused by a protozoan named Plasmodium falciparum. It is characterized by symptoms such as high fever, chills, sweating, headache, muscle pain, nausea, vomiting, body aches, weakness, agitation, confusion, fainting on standing up and anaemia (reduced red blood cell count). Cerebral malaria is the most severe neurological complication of Plasmodium falciparum malaria which may also cause coma. AZUNATE 60MG INJECTION is not recommended for use if you have previous history of allergic reactions to artesunate or artemisinin derivatives. Before receiving AZUNATE 60MG INJECTION inform your doctor if you liver or kidney problems or any other problems. AZUNATE 60MG INJECTION is not recommended for use during first trimester of pregnancy. It should be used with caution in breastfeeding women. How It Works
AZUNATE 60MG INJECTION helps in managing malaria where Artesunate works by transforming into a metabolite and binds with iron component of blood and forms free radicals which inhibit the synthesis of protein and nucleic acid in Plasmodium parasites and manages it from invading red blood cells, thus managing the malaria effectively.
Directions for Use
AZUNATE 60MG INJECTION will be given to you only by a doctor or a nurse intravenously (into the vein) or intramuscularly (into the muscle). Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
Side Effects
AZUNATE 60MG INJECTION are dizziness, light-headedness, headache, rash, hair loss, taste alteration (metallic/bitter taste), nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and diarrhoea. Inform your doctor if any of these side effects bothers you. Drug Interactions
SA. Drug-Drug Interactions Before receiving AZUNATE 60MG INJECTION, inform your doctor, if you are taking any of the following medicines: nevirapine or ritonavir (medicines used to manage HIV infection) rifampin (used to manage tuberculosis) carbamazepine, phenytoin (medicines used to manage fits) axitinib, vandetanib, imatinib (medicines used to manage cancer) diclofenac (used to manage pain) Overdosage: AZUNATE 60MG INJECTION will be given to you only by a doctor or nurse in a hospital, and so it is unlikely to receive an overdose. In case of overdose you may experience seizures, dark stools, low levels of blood cells and multiorgan failure.
