Introduction
INTRODUCTIONAMIUR 5MG contains Amiloride which belongs to the group of medicines called Diuretics (water tablets). It is used to manage high blood pressure (a condition in which the force of the blood against the artery walls is too high), congestive heart failure (a chronic condition in which the heart doesn't pump blood efficiently) and liver cirrhosis (chronic liver damage that leads to scarring of liver tissue and liver failure) with swelling of the abdomen (ascites). AMIUR 5MG is not recommended for use in patients with severe kidney disease, kidney failure, high blood potassium levels (hyperkalaemia), diabetic neuropathy and who are unable to produce any urine. It should be used with caution in patients with kidney impairment and severe liver disease. Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking AMIUR 5MG as it may reduce your blood pressure severely. Before taking AMIUR 5MG inform your doctor if you had or have high levels of acid in the body (metabolic or respiratory acidosis), disturbances of blood chemicals and diabetes. Drug Interactions
SA. Drug - Drug interactions: Before taking AMIUR 5MG inform your doctor if you have received or taking any of the following medicines: lithium (used to manage some mental illnesses) antidiabetic medicine such as chlorpropamide (used to manage diabetes) ciclosporin and tacrolimus (used to manage rheumatism, psoriasis and prevent organ rejection after transplant) captopril, enalapril, losartan, valsartan, sotalol, amlodipine, diltiazem, guanethidine, prazosin, clonidine, diazoxide, methyldopa, moxonidine, hydralazine, minoxidil, sodium nitroprusside (used to manage high blood pressure) non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen or naproxen (used to manage pain) antidepressants such as monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) (Ex. isocarboxazid), tricyclic antidepressants (Ex. amitriptyline, amoxapine), st. john’s wort (used to manage depression) carbamazepine (used to manage epilepsy) aldesleukin and trilostane (used to manage certain cancers) general anaesthetics such as etomidate and propofol (used to stop pain during surgery) antipsychotics such as amisulpride and pimozide, phenothiazines such as chlorpromazine or anxiolytics and hypnotics such as diazepam (used to manage mental illness) atomoxetine (used to manage attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) corticosteroids such as prednisolone and methylprednisolone (used to manage inflammation) levodopa (used to manage parkinson’s disease) moxisylyte (used to manage raynaud’s syndrome) muscle relaxants such as baclofen and tizanidine (used to relax muscles) nitrates such as nitroglycerin, isosorbide mononitrate (used to manage certain heart conditions) oestrogen and drospirenone (used to manage contraception (female hormones)) alprostidil (used to manage erectile dysfunction) potassium conserving drugs (Ex. spironolactone) (used to manage heart failure) or potassium supplements carbenoxolone (used to manage stomach ulcers) Overdosage: If you or anyone else accidentally take too much of AMIUR 5MG consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital.
